Carefree Lumber

Specifications

Carefree lumber is manufactured with high-density polyethylene (milk and medicine bottles), colorants, UV-inhibitors and foaming agents extruded into various lumber sizes. The result is a 100% maintenance free recycled product that will not fade over time, as many other 1/2 wood, 1/2 plastic products do.

"The Clip System"

"The clip system" is a revolutionary method of installing recycled plastic decking that allows the product to expand and contract with temperature changes. Our decking board has a groove on each side of the board where the clip fits into, which allows for the proper attachment in addition to compliance with wind updrafts.

Using a #7 square drive stainless steel screw as the fastener, this system provides the following benefits:

  1. No callbacks due to screws shearing and frame tearing. These are typical problems found when using 12 and 16 foot plastic boards that are face screwed to the frame.
  2. No screws in the face of your deck, creating the "cleanest" look in the industry.
  3. No seams in the deck. Forty-nine foot boards allow for the "clean" look, while saving money by not paying for the waste.
  4. Installation time is usually about 60% of a standard deck. You will enjoy the simplicity. No pre-drilling like other competitors.
  5. Access under the deck is easy. You do not have to remove half of the deck to get at the damaged board. Just unscrew the clips and pop out the board.
  6. The Clip System is the most cost efficient method of installation. With the The Clip System, pre drilling is not required as preparatory work. No chalk lines are needed to line up the screws in the deck surface, as there are no surface screws.

Railing System

Carefree's Railing System is a flow-molded solid material, which is available in matching decking colors. Like the maintenance-free decking material, the railing components do not require any staining or painting and may be easily cleaned with soap and water, garden hose, or pressure washer.

The lumber dimensions of our railing system come in all of the same dimensions as any of the wood components.

Designs of our rails can be the same of those seen in any traditional railing style with the choice of a traditional rail, where the spindles connect to the front fascia board, or a snow rail where a 2 x 4 is set off of the deck approximately 3 7/8" off of the deck surface so that a 4" ball cannot fit through.

While Carefree offers matching railing components, we find that different houses call for different railing components such as wrought iron, powder-coated pipe rail, or glass rail, as you will see in our idea gallery.

Keeping all of this in mind, it is our goal to find what best suits your needs as a customer to obtain the best look.

Our maintenance-free decking and railing has ICC testing approval for residential and commercial use.

Alumnawood Shade Structures

Amerimax's Alumnawood patio covers are the new evolution to the maintenance nightmare of the traditional wood covers. With a lifetime-limited warranty, our patio cover provides the look of wood without peeling, warping or rotting. Our paint finish is a baked-on enamel that will endure harsh elements.

You will have the choice of a solid cover, which will shelter you from the sun and rain, or a open lattice, which cuts the temperature up to 15 degrees while still allowing light to come through.

In addition to the clean look our patio covers provide, you will have the piece of mind knowing that your shade structure will withstand the wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour due to the engineered support coming from the steel inserts for the cross beams and the upright 4 x 4 supports filled with wood, attached to a cement caisson.

ShadeTree Retractable Deck & Patio Canopies

Finally, the most recent addition to our product line is Shadetree canopies. Shadetree is made out of a durable mesh material available in a variety of colors. Sunbrella, America's leading manufacturer of outdoor fabrics, makes Shadetree fabric. The canopies are made from rugged solution-dyed acrylic fibers are water repellent and are guaranteed to maintain their color and strength for five years.

Shadetree can be stored in the wintertime by releasing the locks and removing the canopies. If the canopy is left unattended, the track system has a unique wind-release system where if a heavy winds come up, the mechanism releases and will reduce the risk of damage.

While Carefree can provide you with the Alumnawood frame to accompany the Shadetree, frames made from vinyl, wood, or other applications will suffice.
